What is the difference between recovering and re-upholstering?

Recovering is when the fabric covering is replaced. Usually, the furniture is in good condition internally and only requires a facelift.
Re-upholstery on the other hand is when the internal components of the furniture item need repairing or replacing from the inside out.

Why you should recover or re-upholster.

Most quality furniture items, including antiques are usually made with a solid, hardwood timber frame. This is characteristic of heavy furniture which provides the perfect foundation for restoration.
You can customise and choose the colours and fabrics you most desire to suit your home decor.
Restoration of an old, expensive furniture item is usually more cost effective than replacing an item of the same quality level.
Recycling old furniture is a great way to help the environment by minimising disposable waste.

When considering whether to recover or re-upholster a furniture item, consider the cost of the item when it was originally purchased. Jim of JD Uphostery Bexley did an impecable job of restoring and reupholstering the chair. He organised for the frame to be stripped back and refinished while painstakingly reconstructing the seat springs, webbing ect. and recovered in a beautiful vintage fabric to an exquisite standard.
